RUGBY FOOTBALL
THE JUBILEE TROPHY DECISION OF SEMI-FINALS GRAMMAR TO OPPOSE MARIST The senior championship of tho Auckland Rugby Union will be advanced a further stage to-morrow afternoon with the decision of the semifinals of the Jubilee Trophy competition. The successful teams will meet in tho final on September 11, after which the winning side will contest the season's championship with Ponsonby, which won the Gallagher Shield.
One of tho best afternoon's football of tho season should be witnessed at Eden Park, where both semi-finals will be decided. The leading fixture, between Grammar and Marist, is likely to be a first-class exhibition of spectacular Rugby, especially if the ground is fast and the conditions fino. Both teams have solid packs, and speedy and clever rearguards, which throw tho ball about freely. Grammar appears to have tho best prospects. The curtain-raiser, notween University and North Shore, should also prove an attractive match. University won the A grade outright, being successful in all its games. "While tho team has played fast and open football throughout the year, the inclusion of T. H. C. Caughey and tho return of former regular players who had been on the sideline owing to injuries have, materially strengthened the side. University is likely to win and so enter the final. Following are the teams: — MARIST Senior Grade.—McDonald, Bell-Booth, Toye, O'Brien, Cooncy, Curtayne, C. Irvine, H. Irvine, Kirton, Rosenfeldt, MeHugh, Bailey, Barry, Sullivan, Carroll, Castaign, McGrory. Seventh Grado Intermediate.—To meet 32.15 p.m. Reservoir corner.
