THE MANGERE BUSES

Sir, —If for no other reason than consistency, one cannot help but endorse the claims made through your columns by "Eyes Picked Out of the Service." Since the publication of the report that the proposed feeders, as a substitute for the present through trips, had been well received by the Mangere residents, I have discussed the matter with a number of fellow passengers, but have yet to meet one who is not strongly opposed to a feeder service. Mangere residents have a very definite claim to an adequate through bus service. It may be found necessary to effect economics by substituting ft feeder service during the slack period of the day, but through trips are absolutely essential in the interests of those who depend on the buses as a means of daily transport to and from the city. Moreover, the numbers carried on the morning and evening trips show that a through service at those times is fully warranted. Further, the operators would be entitled to the benefits that would accrue to them by those through trips which would be their main source of income, and without which their ability to carry on a service seems to bo extremely doubtful. Fair Pop.
