BIRTHDAY PARTY
WAIKATO LYCEUM CLUB [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday To celebrate the 11th birthday of the Waikato Lyceum Club, a pleasant function was held in the club lounge last night. The president. Mrs. H. Douglas, welcomed tho members. A number of gifts had been presented to the club, including a twotiered birthday cake by Mrs. T. W. Piatt. Assisting with the entertainment programme were Airs. F. Bullock, Mrs. C. L. MacDiarmid, Mrs. J. Preston, Miss G. Eggleston and Airs. M. Rolls, who presented a play-reading; Airs. J. J. Seales (Alorrinsville), who sang; Airs. C I. Biland, who contributed violin solos > and Airs. A. C. Lavington, who gave pianoforte sketches. Airs. H. Al. Hammond played the accompaniments. Community singing with Mrs. H. J. AlcAlullin as accompanist, was also enjoyed. Airs. Douglas, who received the guests, wore a frock of amethyst chiiion velvet, with gold lame coatee. Competition winners wero Airs. A. C. Lavington and Airs. E. English.
