DEBATING CONTEST
That the present system of party government has outlived its usefulness was the subject of a further debate in the Athenaeum Cup contest, held at the Blind Institute on Wednesday night. The teams consisted of Miss M. Johnstone and Messrs. A. D. Thomson and H. Dwver, representing the Australasian Institute of Secretaries, who submitted the case for the affirmative. and Miss N. L. Dash,- Mrs. G. Cowper and Mr. S. Arlington, representing the Writers' institute. The debate was keenly contested, and the adjudicator.' Mr. L. Phillips, gave the verdict in favour of the secretaries by 247 points to 2-10.
