FARR TO MEET LOUIS
HEAVY-WEIGHT BOXING
SCHMELING REFUSES CONTEST

The boxing promoter Mr. Jacobs announces that a heavy-weight contest between the American negro Joe Louis and Tommy Farr (Britain) will take place at New York in the week following September 13. The New York State Boxing Commission states that it had attempted to arrange a match between Louis and Max Schmeling (Germany), but the latter refused. The commission, therefore, approved the Farr-Louis bout.
