YACHT RANGER TO DEFEND THE BRITISH CHALLENGER (Received July 7, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, July i>
It is now definitely announced that the yacht Ranger will be the defender of the America's Cup against Mr. T. 0. M. Sopwith's Endeavour 11. The first race for the cup will be held on July 31.
Endeavour 11. easily defeated Endeavour I. to-day in the first race since the arrival of the yachts in America. No time was given. Mr. Sopwith plans to hold further contests.
