YUGOSLAV BALL

COLOURFUL KOLO .DANCE PICTURESQUE COSTUMES FIFTH ANNUAL FUNCTION A much-anticipated event of the dancing season, the fifth annual ball of the Yugoslav Club, took place last evening in the Peter Pan Cabaret, which was filled to capacity with a crowd of dancers numbering about 1000. The main feature of this function is always the colourful "Kolo," the Yugoslav national dance, and tho verve and gaiety of the performers called forth enthusiastic applause from those who watched.

Tho dancers were preceded on to the floor by tho Yugoslav Tamburica Orchestra, in picturesque costumes of white satin, with short red jackets and flowing blue sashes, who played an inspiring accompaniment. Tho conductor was Mr. M. Marinovich, who had arranged tho special music. Then came tho performers, singing as they encircled the floor, hand in hand. They, too, wero in white "satin, tho girls graceful in swaying skirts embroidered with bright colours, with more embroidery on the very full sleeves of their white blouses. Both men and girls woro gay scarlet jackets, tho girls' costumes being finished with embroidered veils, while the men wore black and scarlet tasselled caps. Performers in National Dance The two leaders wero distinctively clad, the girl in a short black skirt with scarlet jacket, the man in grey trousers and cape, with a scarlet blouse, while both woro red and black caps finished with upstanding feathers. Thus clad, they entered more and more into the spirit of this attractivo dance, circling, interweaving, advancing and retreating, and finally swinging hand in hand off a floor to which they had given music and colour.

The dancers were: —Miss A. Garelja, the Misses D. and N. Marinovich, Miss L. Soljan, Miss Z. Prgomet, Miss Scansie, Miss R. Jujnovich, Miss Y. Bakalich, Miss I. Nola; Messrs. M. Pivac, T. Marinovich, Borich, B. Kriletich. Prgomet, S. Tomas, J. Bakalich, J. Tvrdeich, K. Marusich. In tho ballroom, national flags had been draped on the walls, while streamers of the national 'Colours, blue, white and red, fluttered over the floor. The supper room was vivid with colour, the tables having been centred with flame-tinted poppies, yellow daffodils, and jars of blue and pink irises. Representative Guests

The guests were received by the president, Mr. M. Ravlic, and Mrs. Ravlic, who was wearing a frock of delphinium blue metalasso under a white fur wrap. The Mayoress, Lady Davis, was in a frock of black satin and tulle, with silver embroideries. The Consular Corps was represented by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Heath, Mr. A. M. Ferguson, Mr. J. G. Groeninger, Mr. T. Davis, Mr. J. M. Totich. Also present was the Trade Commissioner for Canada, Mr. W. F. Bull, and Mrs. Bull. The Council of Foreign Languages was represented by Mr. and Mrs. T. W. M. Ashley. Tho chaperons and members of the ladies' committee present were:— Mrs. S. Prgomet, in black satin; Mrs. A. Milicich, ciel blue satin; Mrs. T. A. Petrie, gold lame; Mrs. L.
