GALLAHER SHIELD WON JUBILEE TROPHY MATCHES On the recommendation of the match committee of the Auckland 1? nonunion, it was decided by the management committee last evening to declare the Gallaher Shield competition closed, and to forward a letter of congratulation to the* Ponsonby fifteen upon its success

Tho first of five series of matches will l)e played next Saturday for tho Jubilee Trophy, and (lie tenuis are to be divided into two sections. as follows:—A section: Ponsonby, Grafton, Otahulni, University, Technical. B section: Grammar, Mnrist, Collego Itifles, Manukau, Training College, North Shore. The final between tho section winners will tie played on August 'JS, and tho decision of the season's championship between the winners of tho Gallaher Shield and tho Jubilee Tiopliy, if necessary, on September 11. The remaining fixtures this season of 'lie Auckland Rugby Union are as follows: —Next Saturday, club matches; July 17, Auckland v. Taranaki, at Taranaki: Auckland v. The New Zealand Rugby Union intimated that it had received an application from a company for tho film rights for New Zealand of the matches against the Springboks, and requested that, '.he . Auckland Rugby Union advise its attitude on the matter. It was decided to inform the parent body that no objection was hold, providing no inconvenience was caused the spectators, and that the Auckland Rugby Union's negotiations with local companies were protected.
