"THE WOMAN I LOVE"
FILM FOR CIVIC THEATRE An appealing romantic drama, "The Woman I Love," in which Paid Muni and Miriam Hopkins appear, is to have its first screenings at the Civic Theatre to-morrow. The principal dramatic role is handled in highly accomplished manner by Muni, who, Inst year won the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Award for his magnificent characterisation in the title role of the film, "The Story of Louis Pasteur." Miss Hopkins is responsible for a performance Avhich is said to c\en those which she gave in "These Three" "Men Are Not Gods' and "Doctor Jekyl and Mr. Hvde." Inspired by the French novel, "L'Equipage," by Joseph Kessel, Ihe Woman I Love" brings to the screen the story of the emotional conflict arising out of the lo\e of a joung aviator for the wife of his elder fnencj and pilot. Muni is seen "as the elder pilot Miss Hopkins as the wife and Louis Hayward as the younger aviator. The film has as a background France as it was during the Great War. The night before departing for the front, the young pilot falls in love with a beautiful girl. When he arrives at the air base of his squadron he is assigned to the command of the elder man and as a result of their battles in the air together a strong friendship springs up between them. When the young flyer returns to Paris on leave he is stunned to find that the girl- he loves is the wife of his friend. The picture moves 011 to a thrilling climax. Colin Clive, Wally Albright, Adrian Morris, Sterling Holloway and Madv Christians are also in the cast. The film will please all theatre-goers who appreciate deep emotional acting, for the three principals all give moving performances, especially Miss Hopkins, who has the most sympathetic part of the three. Her acting calls for great depth of feeling as she is torn between love and loyalty to her'husband and an overpowering love of the young aviator. "The Woman I Love" is a product of the R.K.O.„.l?adio studios. A feature of the film are the scenes of aeroplanes fighting in the sky, which provide scope for some excellent photography. In conjunction with this film, a special programme of coloured cartoons is to be presented at the afternoon sessions for the special entertainment of children during the school holidays.
