THEFT OF RADIO SET
MAN'S UNUSUAL EXCUSE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Wednesday An unusual explanation that he removed a radio set from a stranger's flat in order to take it to a party was made by Roy James Whelan, a farm labourer, aged 26, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to breaking and entering and theft. In a statement to the police Whelan said he consumed a quantity of liquor On the night of the theft. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
