HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS
"Work 011 the main highway deviation designed to avoid the Waiwera Hill has now progressed to the point where traffic does not need to follow the more dangerous grades and curves on the top of the hill. The first of the road works on this new alignment, that on the Albany Hill, is now wefl advanced and it is anticipated that it will be open for traffic before the Christmas holidays. A section further north has already been made available to enable traffic to cut out the steep climb to the top of tho hill. One feature of this reconstruction is the highway bridge at tho intersection of the northern highway and the Waiwera-Helensvillo highway. This concrete structure is now finished and will carry tho main highway traffic, the east and west-bound traffic passing underneath.
