REPRESENTATIVE TRIAL KILLEEN LEADS POSSIBLES THE INTER-ISLAND MATCH [BT TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night made final arrangements for the inter-island match and the first trial match to be played at Athletic Park 011 Saturday. The following captains and deputy-captains were appointed: South Island captain, N. A. Mitchell (Southland), deputy-captain, It. It. King ("West Coast); North Island captain, L. Clothier (Hawkc's Bay), deputycaptain, R. M. McKenzic (Manawatu); Probables captain, J. L. Griffiths (Wellington), deputy-captain, F. H. F. Smith (Wellington); Possibles captain, B. A. Killeen (Auckland), deputycaptain, F. J. Green (Otago). it was reported that some of the players originally selected for Saturday's matches had had to drop out owing to injuries. J. M. Watt (Wellington), one of the wing-threequarters chosen for the North Island team, is suffering from an injured knee and this has necessitated a rearrangement of the rearguard. D. G. Barton (Waliganui), will come into the team as centre-threequarter, and J. L. Sullivan (Taranaki), will take Watt's place 011 the wing. It. White (Hawke's Bay), who was selected as one of the wing-three-quarters for the Probables team, is - also suffering from an injured knee, and lie will be replaced by A. E. McAneny (Poverty Bay). L. Niven (.Otago), one of the reserve forwards for the South Island team, who had to drop out owing to a family bereavement, will be replaced by E. Chestcrman (Southland). It was decided that both matches 011 Saturday should be played in 45-minute periods and that the replacement of injured players shall be allowed. The international rules as to kicking into touch from any part of the field will be observed.
