SIR JOSEPH WARD
ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH The seventh anniversary of the death of Sir Joseph Ward falls to-day. He was for 40 years outstanding, in New Zealand politics, and at the time of his death at the age of 74 Sir Joseph was still a member of Parliament and a member of the Cabinet without portfolio. He had occupied Ministerial offices in seven Governments, twice as Prime Minister. For some time before his death his health gave his friends a good deal of concern, and in May, 1930, he was obliged to relinquish his duties as Prime Minister. His first Ministry was formed in August, 1906. and it lasted until March, 1912.
