VICTORIA LEAGUE
MEETING AND MORNING TEA The monthly meeting of the Victoria League Ever Ready Committee was held in the league rooms last week. Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane presided. The secretary reported that the jumble sale had been a great success. It was further stated that the proceeds from Poppy Day had amounted to £lO6. Both the Ever Ready and the Girls' Committees had assisted. It was decided to pay the fees necessary for a Maori scholar to attend the Queen Victoria Maori School for girls for this year. Arrangements were completed for the Coronation bridge party to be held on May 13, the funds to be devoted to the King George V. Memorial Fund. A morning tea was held to -welcome the new sub-committee (many of whom have been foundation members of the girls' committee) and the helpers at the jumble sale. An enjoyable programme had been arranged by Mrs. Humfrey Gordon, items being given by Mrs. Harold Owers (songs), Mrs. Rec. Iteid (pianoforte solos}, and Miss Doreen Saunders (recitations).
