WILL FOR PEACE
ADDRESS TO TEACHERS
VISITORS FROM OVERSEAS (Received May 6, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUG-BY. May 5 The President of the Board of Education, Mr. Oliver Stanley, in an address to foreign and overseas teachers visiting England for the Coronation, spoke of the hope of men who returned from the Great War in 1918 that, through the League of Nations, public opinion would be mobilised and focussed to prevent any repetition of wars. He thought the preservation of peace depended not so much upon the provision of machinery as upon reaching the hearts and minds of men and women and creating the will for peace. People must look back and look forward, remembering the dreams of the post-war years and the spirit that inspired them, and pledging themselves to maintain that spirit and to work that those dreams might come true. Mr. Stanley said he believed that the foundation was sure, and upon it they could work to erect an enduring building.
