CRIME IN AMERICA
FEDERAL STATISTICS STARTLING FIGURES QUOTED 150,000 MURDERERS AT LARGE (Received May 6, 7.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 6 A message from Bloomington, Illinois, says that Mr. D. Ladd, head of the Chicago staff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said in an address in 1936 there were 12,000 homicides in the United States and 1,500.000 felonies, including 50,000 felonious assaults. Of the 461,589 persons arrested 74,804 were under 21. Over 150,000 murderers roam the country. It is probable that 200,000 persons now living will commit murder before they die, and nearly 300,000 will be murdered.
