MR. BARNARD AT TE AROHA HIS FORMER HOME TOWN [by telegraph—owx correspondent] TE AROHA, Thursday The Speaker of the House of'Repre- 7 sentatives, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, accompanied by Messrs. R. Coulter and C. H. Burnett, M.P.'s for Waikato and Tauranga, Mr. H. L. Thornton, president of the Te Arolia Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. W. C. Kennedy, chairman of the Piako County Council, .today visited the Te Aroha District High School and primary schools. At each school Mr. Barnard addressed the children.
The party also made a tour of inspection of the Te Aroha Hot Springs Domain, and the site of the proposed new open-air tepid swimming bath, and saw the new bore in operation."lt provided a spectacular sight, throwing hot mineral water several feet into the air A complimentary luncheon was today tendered to Mr. Barnard by the Borough Council. Local body representatives and other prominent residents attended. All combined in extending to Mr. Barnard a hearty welcome to the town where he was once a borough councillor, and a well-known business man. Reminiscences of early days and anecdotes of Te Aroha's earlier life were recounted. A lengthy toast list was honoured.
