RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB PRACTICE MATCHES HELD A practice shoot at ranges of 800 yds and 900 yds was fired by members of the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club under excellent conditions. Ten shots were fired at the first r.mpe, but owing to the limited period of daylight seven shots only were fired at the longer range. Several of the scores were of a high standard, and it was apparent that the use of the single arm sling made little difference to the competitors. Scores off the rifle were:— A Grade.—S. C. MATAMATA RESULTS [from our. own correspondent] MATAMATA, Monday The Matr.mafa Rifle Club held a shoot on Saturday over ranges of 200 yds and 3()oyds for a trophy presented by Mr. and Mrs. H. Rollett, sen. The members used the singlearm sling for the first time. Following were the best scores:—R. H. Rollett, handicap 2, 200 yds -17, 300 yds 45, total, 94; C. Landells, 2%, 4S, 43 —93Vi; R. CLEVEDON CLUB The final shoot for the second club trophy, and a trophy presented by ~Mr. Finn "for the highest score, was held by members of the Clevedon Defence Rifle Club at ranges of 500 yds and 000 yds.
