TAUPIRI DRAINAGE
SCHEME NEARLY COMPLETED MAINTENANCE BY THE BOARD [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday Men who have been employed on the drainage scheme at Taupiri by the Public Works Department since 1934 are gradually being reduced in number, and it is probable that only men employed directly on machine work will remain after the end of June. The greater part of the Public Works Department's task lias been completed and the maintenance of the many miles of drains constructed by the department will before long be entrusted to the Taupiri Drainage Board, which enlisted the aid of the department in 1934. One or two drains are already being maintained by the board.
