[ROUND BY HOEOWHENUA SURELLA AND VALMINT LEO COLOSSUS SCHOOLED The No. 3 grass was available for galloping at Ellerslie yesterday, when a number of horses engaged at the Bay of Islands meeting at Ptikckohe were allotted useful tasks. The going was holding and few fast times were recorded. The jumpers had the use of the hurdles in the middle. Having her first sprint since racing at Ellerslie at Easter, Kilousa (Wiggins) ran live furlongs in 1.8 2-5. She covered the first two in 26 2-5s and was slowing up at the end. Kilonsa is iii great heart and may win again before the season is concluded. Tybalt (McCurdy) was let off with an easy three furlongs in -11 2-os. He t-anie through his racing in the autumn in good style.. Valspoar (Wiggins) ran six furlongs in 1.23 1-5, the last halfmile in 55 2-os. He was not extended fit any stage and is in nice order. Horowhenua (Kearns) and Free Air (light boy) covered a round in 1.46 l-o, the last six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Both have made good progress in recent weeks. Knight of Australia (.Dulieu) stride over a round in 1.49, the last half-mile in 55 l-ss. The two-year-olds Bright Idea (Metcalfe), Ciansinan (Buchanan) and Bronze Wings (Cameron) were in close order at the end of three furlongs in 42 l-os.' Loeknit (Dulieu) was under restraint while running a round in 1.47 2-5, the last half-mile in 54 3-ss. He is improving in condition. Tooley Street Sprints Tooley Street (Kearns) was not extended while running half a mile in 53 l-ss. He is bearing a bright appearance. Kelly (Gilchrist) was tinder restraint while running six furlongs in 1.24, the last half-mile in 555. He appears to have taken no harm from his recent racing. Waitaka (Murray), after running the. first two in 26 2-ss, completed six furlongs in 1.22 1-5. He is being sent along faster now that tlie tracks have become easier. Okawa (Wiggins) covered six furlongs in 1.22. the last three in 425. She failed to ran up to expectations at the W hangarei meeting, but did not have the best of luck and may do better when started again. Surella (Wiggins) was slightly in front of Valmint (Murray) at the completion 'of half a mile in 51 3-ss, a smart etfort. Surella demonstrated that he retains his pace, and Valmint, who is partial'- to soft going, should have good prospects during the winter months. Lord Val and Black Marlin Billy Boy (Dulieu) and Erase (Fearn) traversed a round in 1.50, the last halfmile, in 56 l-os. Billy Boy was ridden out, but Erase was under a good hold and could have done better. Hot Shot (Wiggins) and the Acre filly in N. Cunningham's stable sprinted three furlongs in 41 4-ss. These two-year-olds continue to make good progress. Te Hai (Manson) was in front of Bingshot (Wiggins) at the copvletion of six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. They ran the first three in 40 3-5s and both Were slowing up at the end. Te Hai raced below expectations at Whangarei, but he may do better before the season is concluded. Bingshot is bearing a bright appearance. Lord Yal (Wiggins) conceded Black Marlin (Green) a couple of lengths start over a round, but beat him home in 1.47. the-last six furlongs in 1.22 3-5 and the last half-mile in 565. They are making good progress in their preparation for winter racing. Speedfasi' (Coon) jumped two pony hurdles safely. He is showing improvement. Leo Colossus (Thomson) gave a safe display over four hurdles, although he jumned a little awkwardly at the thircl and fourth.
