RADIO SPY DEVICE
AMERICAN INVENTION EQUIPMENT OF WARSHIPS TESTING AT MANOEUVRES (Received April 5, 10.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 5 The Nary Department has announced the development of a radio spy device to locate and track enemy warships over long distances at sea. Details are secret. The invention is likely to be tested at the annual manoeuvres, starting on April 16 between Hawaii, California and Alaska. The manoeuvres will last six weeks and 139 ships arid 474 aeroplanes will be engaged. The exercises will include the defence of Hawaii. Warships are being modernised with new radio devices, which are of two types, one operated by six men for inter-ship communication, and the other carried on a man's back for communication with landing forces.
