HOWICK FIRE SEQUEL
FARM LABOURER CHARGED Charged with wilfully setting firo to tho Howick public school on January 31, Vernon Albert Sinallman, farm labourer, aged 20, appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in tho Police Court yesterday. Ho was remanded to appear in the Otahuhu Police Court on Monday, bail of Xl.'iOO and two sureties of .£l6O each being allowed. Jn applying for bail, Mr. Baxter, who appeared' for accused, said that when Smallinan was arrested at Tauranga it. was not as a fugitive from justice. He had been working at Tauranga before tbe dato of tho alleged offence, and had returned there after a holiday in Auckland. He would live with his family in Auckland while on bail.
