AVONDALE RACES

A DAY OF SUNSHINE FINE WEATHER FROCKING ATTRACTIVE HATS AND SUITS Suits and ensembles were to be seen in full force at the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting at Avondale on Saturday, when glorious sunshine, coupled with a cool breeze, were the ideal conditions prevailing. Small hats predominated and many were of the new high-crowned variety while a considerable number were also adorned with smart eye veils. Brown in its varying tones was a popular colour, but a bright Marina green was to be seen in woollen suits worn by some half-dozen 'of the younger patrons, which gave a vivid note of colour on the crowded lawn. Black, that most useful of colours, was again much in evidence, black tailored suits with black felt hats and for necklets in brown or grey making attractive ensembles.
