PROPOSED PRECAUTIONS RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL [by telegraph—owy correspondent] OPOTIKI, Saturday Steps to prevent the spread of infantile paralysis in the Opotiki district were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board. The chairman. Mr. Short, suggested asking the Minister of Health to stop a tangi on the coast. It was also suggested that the Minister he asked to stop Maoris travelling on the coast, and it was decided to ask tbe school committees to communicate with the board on the question of closing of schools. HICKS BAY PATIENT ADMISSION AT OPOTIKI DENTED [by TELEGRAPH —OWN- correspondent] OPOTIKI, Saturday A report from Tokomaru Bay that a native child was discovered between Hicks Bay and Cape Runaway on Tuesday suffering from infantile paralysis and had been sent to the Opotiki Hospital is incorrect, according to the secretary of the Opotiki Hospital Board, who "states that the only patient in the Opotiki Hospital was admitted the previous week from Whangaparoa, the infant having been brought up from the Hawke's Bay district. No cases have occurred in the Opotiki hospital district.

A suspect case of infantile paralysis admitted to hospital on Thursday has now been diagnosed as mikliy positive, without paralysis. The patient is a boy of 10 years from Pukeuri.
