The poles were out 20ft. The best sprinting efforts were those of Kewpie's King, Kenworthy and Aide do Camp, who recorded 1.7; Proletarian and Ironside, 1.7 2-5; Bismuth, Frank Best and Native Colo, 1.8; Lady Slipper, Handicapper and Decoy Bird, 1.8 2-5; Kewpie's Crest and Tangaroa, 1.9. After keeping with Full Hand nntil two furlongs from bome, Proletarian came away to win easily in 3.36. He worked attractively. Kewpie's Crest. Worthy Song and Handicapper ran as named to the turn, where Handicapper drew out, to record 3.45. Kewpie's King went away four seconds behind Tangaroa, who led out from Decoy Bird and Baron Grand, and, while he finished in lino with the last-mentioned two in 3.38 2-5, Kewpie's'King failed to reach Tangaroa, who went 3.42. Lady Slipper worked a steady mile with Biworthy, but beat him comfortably over the next half in I.S 2-5. Biworthy trotted 1.10, going solidly all the way. After going six furlongs. Native Colo headed Roadster, but Kenworthy, who trailed him, put in a fine run to reach Native Cole and run the mile in 2.21. Native Colo recorded 2.22, and is improving with racing. Aide de Camp went to the mile easily in 2.30, completing the mile and a-half in 3.37. Ho was running on, and is in great heart. Bismuth, although knocking badly, had a comfortable victory over Reception and Roman Chief in 3.41. Reception trotted solidly in the final stages, and Frank Best sprinted half a mile in 1.8, after taking 2.32 for the first mile. He put some of his former dash into the iinal effort. Terraplane was of no use to Ironside over the last three furlongs of a milo run in 2.21. The Cup candidate did his work resolutely, and was not overtaxed iu going 1.7 2-5 for the final half. His stable-mate,_ Isabella Pointer, created a favourable impression and, although a little green, she may furnish a surprise. Accel and Cash Down worked two heats over a milo and a-quarter, the former doing the better at each start. Ann Pointer worked a mile in 2.32 and a repeat mile in 2.20. Baby Triumph made no mistakes while going a solid milo and a-half. Winhisway hit out soundly over a similar distance. A mile in 2.27 was Silver Black's time, but she could have improved on the 1.12 taken for the final section. Waingake had no trouble in holding Unworthy and Mavis Logan over a mile and a-half. Native Tree trotted solidly. Broughshane and Winshow worked unhoppled. Winaway worked on the dirt track. Among L. F. Berkott's team is a four-year-old novice by Jack Potts from a Wrack mare, who will race as Kingussie. Ho appears ono of the solid type, who will make his pres§ijce felt. Another maiden who may prove useful is Pampas, by Worthy Bingen—Jean Audubon. He is owned and trained by It. Telford at Trentham.
