CONTEST TO KAWAU ROYAL AKARANA CLUB EVENT SUCCESS OF THE TAINUI The Royal Akarana Yacht Club's ocean yacht race started oft' King's "Wharf at 7.40 p.m. on Thursday. The course was from the starting line, thence inside Waiheke Island, thence through the Waiheke Passage across the Hatiraki Gulf to judge's boat at the entrance to Coromandel Harbour, thence to Kawau, finishing off Momona Point, a distance of 73 miles. The entries and handicaps were: — Altair, scr.; Windward, 18m; Rambler, 46m; Silver Cloud, Hi 10m; Tainui, Ih 50m; Anita, 2h sm; Dorothy, 2h 20m. Windward was first away and was closely followed by Altair, Tainui and Anita. Silver Cloud and Dorothy did not report at the starting line. The finishing times at Kawau yesterday were: —Altair, lh 35m 10s; Windward, 21i 17m 335; Tainui, 2h 20m 425. The result on corrected times was: — Tainui, 1; Altair, 2; Windward, 3.
