MELBOURNE, March 23
The firm of Craig Williamsons, Limited, owner of a large drapery emporium in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, of 63 years' standing, is to be closed on Thursday. The business has been in the hands of receivers for some time.
The premises were offered for sale by auction last week, but the highest bid was £.'5.35,000 below the reserve and the property was passed in. Tenders were called for the purchase of the stock and the book debts, and they were opened to-day. It is announced that Anthony Horderns, Sydney, purchased the stock and that Ball and Welch, Melbourne, bought the book debts.
The advertised values were: —Stocks, £].''] ,022; book debts, £56,716. Most of the members of the staff are being absorbed by other Melbourne firms.
