AIR EXPEDITION
SOVIET FLIGHT TO POLE
PLANS FOR LANDING PLACE
(Received March 23, 10.45 p.m.) LONDON. March 23 The Moscow correspondent of the Telegraph Exchange states that five Soviet aeroplanes are reported to have taken oft secretly from Moscow for the North Pole, carrying 10 scientists who will drop in parachutes to the icefields in the neighbourhood of the Pole. The object of the flight is to establish a permanent landing place for the air rout<» from Moscow to San Francisco. The scientists are supplied with provisions sufficient for a year's stay.
