EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE A successful issue to the first annual conference among members of the Auckland Drivers' Union executive, inclusive of town and country, was reported yesterday by Mr. C. Lindsay, secretary * to the union. Fourteen branches were represented at the conference, which was hold in Auckland and presided over by Mr. A. Hell, president of the union. Mr. 801 l said that the main purpose of the conference was to consolidate the interests of city and country members, and from the nature of the business done, and the volume of work put through, lie felt certain much good had resulted. The importance of the union had been raised considerably since the beginning of last year, and the membership increased remarkably. On Januarv 1, ID.'itj, the union had only 425 members, and the balance-sheet showed an excess of liabilities over assets of £230. A year later the membership stood at 2657, and the balance-* sheet showed no. liabilities, but assets totalling L''i6S. Delegates expressed their confidence in the Auckland executive, and gave an intimation that the interests ot country members wero being closely watched. I
