WEDDING
SYMES—WHEELER The wedding took place in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, on Wednesday of Miss Nancy Gordon Wheeler, elder daughter of Air. and Mrs. Gordon Wheeler, of Wellington, to Mr. Lvo Alfred Hills Byrnes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Synies, of Wanganui The ceremony, which .took place in the afternoon, was" performed by the Rev. Gordon McKenssiel The flowers which decorated the church were in varied shades of pink to match the frocks of the brido and her attendants, with hvdrangeas predominating. > Slf.v W. S. Wheeler escorted his daughter, who made a charming picture as she walked up the aisle, the long train of her frock sweeping in a wide oval behind her. Moire taffetas with a lacquered back, made in highwaisted stylo with little tight bodice and square neck finishing at tho back with a row of buttons to tho waist, fashioned this unusual and very attractive frock. The sleeves were in leg-of-mutton style, full, from tho shoulders and buttoning tightly in to the wrist. The skirt was gored, tho back panel extending into a train, and tho hem was stiffened with a deep band of quilting. Her veil was a billowing cloud of palest pink tulle, sweeping out over the train of her frock from a heart-shaped halo of pink velvet rosebuds which she wore on her head. The bouquet was of pink shaded begonias with long trails falling to the hem of her frock. Mrs. Lan Reid attended her sister as matron-of-honour and there were four bridesmaids, the Misses Ruth \\ heeler, sister of the bride, Doris Symes, the bridegroom's sister, Mollie Peacock and Mary Maclean. Their frocks were of faille taffetas in a shade of pink perfectly toning with the bride's gown, but just different enough to be distinguishable. The bodices were squareneckcd in front and cut away to a V at the back, which was filled in with latticed taffetas. Their haloes of pink rosebuds were similar to that worn by the bride, and their bouquets were also of pink begonias. Mr. Leslie McAneny attended the bridegroom as best man, and Messrs. Lan Reid, George Roberts, Denis Blundell and Colin Armstrong were the groomsmen. A garden reception was held after the ceremony at Mr. and Mrs.. IX G. Johnston's residence, Kincora, Lower Hu,tt. To receive the guests Mrs. Wheeler were a gown of .leaf green lace, made .with a tunic banded, with mole fur, and a wide hat to match.
