OBITUARY
MR. ARTHUR BRISBANE NOTED AMERICAN JOURNALIST (Received December 27, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 26 The death is reported of the former newspaper owner and journalist Mr. Arthur Brisbane. Mr. Arthur Brisbane, formerly the owner of the newspapers Washington Times and Evening Wisconsin, Milwaukee, was born in 1861 and entered journalism in 1883 as a reporter on the New York Sun after having spent five years in France and Germany. Later he was London correspondent of th» newspaper and managing editor of the New York World. He was editor of the New York Evening Journal from 1897 to 1921. In 1919 he sold his two newspapers, which he had acquired in the previous two years, to the press magnate Mr. William Randolph Hearst.
