PTOMAINE POISONING

FAMILY AT WAIHEKE EIGHT PEOPLE AFFECTED Eight people of a family of nine who are spending a holiday at Ostend, "Waihcke Island, suffered from attacks of ptomaine poisoning after their midday meal 011 Saturday. The main dish of the meal was ox tongue, cooked and not tinned, and only one member of the family escaped the distressing symptoms which followed. Those affected included fire adults and three children, the most serious case being that of a boy, aged 5J years, When it was seen that most members of the family were affected a call was sent to the Waiheke district nurse, who gave attention to all eight cases. None of the family is suffering any severe after-effects of the poisoning.
