MOTOR ACCIDENTS
Sir,—l hope that in spito of the tragic opening of the Christmas holidays the Minister of Transport, Mr. Sempie, will not give up in disgust his effort* to make our highways safer. Even if their livelihood is involved, reckless motorists must be put off the roads. It may be that we shall have to go the length of requiring every driver of a motor vehicle to undergo tests of fitness, which also take toinpei anient into account, much on the lines of the tests to which tramway motormen and enginedrivers are submitted.
