£IO,OOO BURGLARY

HOUSE OF INDIAN PRINCE VALUABLE NECKLACE TAKEN [from our own correspondent] LONDON, Dec. 5 Jewellery valued at nearly £IO,OOO belonging to Prince Bishnu, of Nepal, was stolen by a burglar, who climbed a stack-pipe at the rear of the Prince's house in Hainpstead. Among the stolen jewellery was a pearl necklace valued at £BOOO. The Princess was dining alone in the house when the burglary occurred, between 8 and 9.30 p.m. She discovered the thoft when she went to her room alter dinner. Several bedrooms had been ransacked, and she at once called her maid and other servants. Scotland Yard was informed, and detectives immediately began investigations. The burglary was carried out under the cover of fog by a man who, the police believe, must have been an expert \vho had carefully reconnoitred the situation. It is one of the largest Loudon burglaries of recent years. Prince Bishnu (Major-General Bishnu Shumshere, of Nepal), is a son of the late Maharaja, who died in 1929, and a cousin of the Nepalcse Minister in London, Sir Bahadur Shumshere Jung.
