WAGES AND HOURS FIXED WELLINGTON DISTRICT AWARD All "front of the house" employees in picture shows, theatres and other similar places of amusement in the Wellington industrial district are covered by a new award of the Arbitration Court. Employers may fix the hours of ork but, in continuous picture theatres, the weekly hours are not to exceed 32 for ticket-sellers or 36 for ticket-takers, doorkeepers, ushers and other theatre attendants. Wages have been fixed as follows: Ticket-sellers (females and youths), £1 16s a week; ticket-takers, doorkeepers, ushers, monitors and other theatre attendants, £3 16s a week for adult males and £1 16s a week for youths and females. For night shows, tickot-selleis aro to work a maximum of 2% hours a night, while the matinee maximum is two hours. Other attendants may work from 6.45 p.m. until the clearing of the house, and from three-quarters of an hour before a matinee until the clearing ol' the house. Caretakers and cleaners are to work a 40-hour week and wages aro to be £4 10s a week for caretakers, £4 for male cleaners, £2 5s for female cleaners, 2s 3d an hour for male casuals and Is 5d an hour for female casuals.
