ASSAULT CHARGE

MAN BEFORE COURT REMANDED TO AUCKLAND [by telegraph —PItESS association] GISBOKNE, Saturday When he appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., Frederick Kay Corbett was charged that with intent to do grievous bodily harm he assaulted Elizabeth Rushford at Auckland on December 22, so as to cause grievous bodily harm. On the application of the police, accused was remanded to appear at Auckland on December 29. Mrs. Rushford collapsed on the footpath outside the Embassy Theatre, Wellesley Street East, on luesdav night. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance and was found to be sufiering from extensive scalp wounds, a fracture of the jaw and abrasions. Her condition last night was reported to be improving.
