LOUIS FOLLOWS SCHMELING TWO AUSTRALIANS INCLUDED WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 The United States National Boxing Association's rankings for the last quarter of 19.'i6 place Max Schmeling second and Joe Louis third in the heavy-weight division. Two Australians are included in the rankings, Carroll third in the welter-weights and Fred Henneberry ninth in the middle-weights. Ceferino Garcia, of Manila, is between Ross and Carroll, of New York.

WELTER-WEIGHT TITLE NEGOTIATIONS FOR MATCH BARNEY ROSS AND CARROLL CHICAGO, Dec. 20 Negotiations for the boxing match in Australia between Barney Ross and Jack Carroll for the world welterweight championship, which failed last August, have been reopened. Mr. Pian, the manager of Ross, announced the receipt of a cablegram from Mr. C. Lucas guaranteeing 50,000 dollars, plus £IOOO expenses for a match at Sydney in April. Mr. Pian told the Australian Associated Press that he had cabled Mr. Lucas accepting the offer provided the guarantee money was posted to Chicago. Faster Monday, the date suggested by Mr. Lucas for the fight, was satisfactory to Mr. Pian, but Mr. Lucas' suggestion that Mickey Farr, the promoter, should proceed to Sydney to arrange details was impossible, owing to the ship schedules, which was the reason for his insistence on the posting of the guarantee. Ross had been planning to meet McLarnin at Madison Square Garden, but the New York Boxing Commission insisted on a fight with Garcia, the terms of the contract for which were not satisfactory to Mr. Pian, who wafc therefore eager to close the Australian contract. BOUT IN AMERICA CHOCOLATE BEATS ERICKSON WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 in a boxing match of eight rounds at Washington yesterday, Kid Chocolate was awarded the decision over Johnny Erickson, of Harlem, Georgia.
