FIGHT WITH ROBBERS
MOTOR MANUFACTURER BOLD ATTACK IN NEW YORK WIFE'S JEWELLERY OBJECTIVE (Received December 21, 10.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 21 M. Emile Mathis, the French motorcar manufacturer, fought off unassisted two armed robbers who attempted to steal Madame Mathis' jewellery in front of an exclusive hotel in Manhattan. While she screamed a taxi-cab driver looked on without helping. M. Mathis rolled one of his assailants in the gutter, and his vigorous resistance caused the pair to flee without the jewellery, which was worth thousands of dollars.
