ANN I VERSABY REGATTA ALTERATIONS IN COURSES GENEROUS AMERICAN DONOR The programme for the sailing and motorboat even Is to lie held at the Auckland Anniversary Regatta on Friday, January 29, was derided upon at a meeting of the regatta committee last evening. The chairman. Mr. K. (irifiiths, presided over a good attendance'. The courses for the various sailing events were adopted on the recommendation of the sailing committee. Classes A and B will sail Ihe same courses as last year, but classes E, H, 1 and L will compete over different courses. The mullet classes will round the Hotia buoy near Chelsea instead of the mark oIT the eastern tide deflector, while' classes C and E will round the red buoy off Motuihi instead of the beacon ofl' Rangitoto. The course for the seine net fishing boats will be from the starting line off the flagship, thence round a buoy off Chelsea, thence round the red buoy in the Motuihi Passage, back to the flagship. It was stated that .'to boats were expected to start 4 in this particular race, which wiu> causing considerable interest among Auckland fishermen. It was decided to allot the Savory Memorial Cup to class C. The donor of the cup, Mr. J. R. Savory, of San Francisco, who was present, presented C 5 toward the prizes for this race, the first prize for which is now A'l2, second 11. third i'l. Mr. Savory, who had already donated C2O to the regatta funds, was thanked for his gift. In the rare for class A it was agreeil to increase the first prize to X! 15. Class I, was raised to I'M, class V to ,i'S, and the seine net fishing boats to CIO. On the recommendation of the sailinc committee it was resolved that the race for class Z. I'Jft. (fin. boats, be open to hoys under 19 years of age, and that the crew consist of either two or three, no ballast being allowed. Seven motor-boat events were placed on the programme. IDLE ALONG CHAMPIONSHIP [I'Y TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT J TAURANGA, Monday Three trial races to select the crew to represent the Bay of Plenty in the Idle Along championship to be held at Tauranga on December 28 took place at the week-end. A strong south-westerly wind was blowing and conditions were a severe test. Four boats competed, namely, Orere. lona, Toroa and Wairere. The firsl rare was won by Graham Carter's crew sailing Orere. The second rare was won by Toroa, sailed by R. Hunt, and the third by Orere. The following crew was selected:—Graham Carter (skipper), Perry Carter and Roy Tonkin, who won the rhanipionship at Wellington last year. The Bay of Plenty delegates are P. Carter and T. Sneddon.
