LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Onehunga.—The last meeting for the year of the Onehunga branch of the League of Mothers took the form of a flower show, which was well attended. The Orphans' Hall, Onehunga, looked very gay with the exhibits, which caused the judges of the sections much thought before the final awards were made. A letter was received from the late president, Mrs. W. J. Jordan, wife of the High Commissioner in London. Greetings were conveyed from the Auckland provincial president, Mrs. S. O. English. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. M. Dunkley. A musical programme was provided by Mrs. T. Wentworth, Mrs. J. C. Sibbin and Mrs. R. W. Bissett. Mrs. M. Dunkley was the accompanist The following were the judges of the various competitions: —Cookery, Mrs. D. W. Marshall; flowers, Airs. J. H. Hopkins, Mrs. Guy Blandford, Mrs. P. Sandliam. In presenting the prizes to the successful competitors, the Mayoress, Mrs. J. Park, paid a tribute to the work of the league. Following were the winners:—Mrs. G. Miller, Mrs. A. Sicbert, Mrs. W. R. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. R. W. Bissett. Mrs. T. Walker, Mrs. S. O. Clark, Mrs. F. Skilton, Mrs. S. Potter, Mrs. F. Keegan, Mrs. C. Rowlingson, Mrs. J. Gibb, Mrs. P. D. Lipscombe, Mrs. G. Rawlinson, Miss F. Clark. Children's section: —Kathleen Miller, Constance Hopkins, Valerie Cunningham, Joyce Lovett, Betty Clark, Wallace Rawlinson. Appreciative comment was made on the work of the organiser of the show, Mrs. V. Hunter, who provided a fine exhibit of a fern rockery with water lilies. Sandringhain.—Mrs. A. Wright presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting, held in the Presbyterian Hall, Balmoral Road. Miss Aimee Porter gavo an interesting address entitled " Your Magic Mirror." Christmas greetings were read from the provincial president, Mrs. S. 0. English. Arrangements for tlio branch picnic, to bo held in December, were made. Mrs. Lloyd gave an elocutionary item. Afternoon tea was served by the tea committee under the convenership of Mrs. F. Chester. Henderson. —The Henderson branch of tho League of Mothers met in the Foresters' Hall last week. Mrs. Harvey presided. Tho meeting took tho form of a social afternoon and representatives from the Ponsonbv and Remnera branches wore entertained. Several members of tho Henderson branch gave musical and choral items and one of tho Ponsonby visitors recited. Afternoon tea was served.
