PIRATE SHIP
The opening of the new swimming pool at Milford, in three weeks' time, suggested the decorative scheme of the carnival dance held at the Pirate Ship 011 Saturday night. Thore was a very large attendance of dancers. The "call of the beach" was illustrated in many novel ways, the stage setting showing a view of Afford Beach and Pangitoto, while replicas of bathing beauties were shown beneath colourful umbrellas or on deck chairs. Diving figures wore suspended from the ceiling and also decorated the cubicles and pillars. An enloyable programme of dance music was provided by the Pirate Ship Band, nautical numbers being included.
