DISCIPLINE
Sir, —Many of us deeply appreciate your leader of November 11, calling our attention to the searching statements of Mr. J. I']. Lovelock. In the light of his demonstration in the field of sport and his bearing as a citizen be surely has the right to call us all to attention. We certainly all" have a contribution to make for the common good. You clinch the matter when you quote Mr. Baldwin. "Freedom and discipline alone can make a living and vivifying democracy." "Discipline without freedom will make a nation of slaves." Freedom only comes to the God-conscious man, conscious by right, happy and disciplined, giving a dignity to all our activities in every walk of life, bringing Church and State together in a new commonwealth of nations, loving peace, but being fit for any test of body, mind and spirit. Gordon Barnf.tt.
