GAOL FOR RECEIVER
CONVICTION CONFIRMED AN UNSUCCESSFUL APPEAL [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday A sentence of 15 months' imprisonment, to date from August 18, when the August sessions of the Hamilton Supreme Court opened, was imposed on Wallace Robert Boyd, aged 38, a Putaruru storekeeper, by Mr. Justice Callan in the Hamilton Supreme Court to-day for receiving eight motor tyres known to have been stolen. At the conclusion of the trial in August, when accused was found guilty, a case on appeal was stated to decide whether evidence of previous instances of receivinc; could be admitted in such cases. The Court of Appeal agreed that such evidence could be admitted, and the conviction against accused was confirmed His Honor said he was unable to discovei any extenuating circumstances in the case," which was one of deliberate dishonesty.
