MILK VENDOR'S CASE
DISCUSSION AT TAKAPUNA RESULT OF ZONING SYSTEM The case of a milk vendor in Takapuna who, it was stated, had received notice that as a result of the zoning system devised by the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council his licence would be cancelled, came before the Takapuna Borough Council last night, and was given a sympathetic hearing. The vendor concerned had been m the borough for 27 years, said the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, and as a result of the zoning system was faced with the likelihood that his property would be converted from an asset into a liability. The matter thus affected the council. " 1 would like to see other local bodies approached concerning this case," said Mr. Guiniven. " Hore we have a Takapuna citizen not allowed to make a living." Mr. C. M. Clifton: The system of zoning is a rationed one, but compensation certainly should be allowed. It was decided to place the facts before the Pi;imc Minister, Mr. Savage, to send copies of the resolution to other local bodies, and to have the Mayor bring the case before the Milk Council at its next meeting.
