PROTEST REJECTED
ARRESTS IN RUSSIA GERMANS IN CUSTODY MOSCOW, Nov. 16 The Soviet Government has rejected the Germnn Embassy's protest' against the arrests for alleged espionage, which Germany alleges number 12 in Lenin- ; grad, nine in Moscow, and two in the provinces. The Soviet admits the taking into custody of 14 Germans. The German Embassy in Moscow announces that two women, Frau Futterknecht and Fraulein Baerwald. are among the Germans arrested in Leningrad. Frau Futterknecht and her husband, a timber buyer, are charged with espionage. Fraulein Bacrwald is charged with conspiracy, and her father with espionage and conspiracy. BRITISH EMBASSY QUESTION OF GUARDING LONDON, Nov. 16 In the House of Commons to-day the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Eden, said he had not received a report concerning the guarding of the British Embassy in Moscow from the Ambassador, who could be relied upon to keep him informed of any important developments.
