WELSH LABOUR MEMBERS REFUSAL TO MEET KING DISTRESSED AREAS VISIT CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYED By Teleeraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received November .17, 11.17 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 17 A sensation has been caused in political circles by the statement of two Labour members of the House of Commons, Mr. A. Bevan, (Monmouth, Ebbw Vale division), and Mr. W. H. Mainwaring (Ivhonnda East division), that they will refuse to meet the King when he visits the distressed areas in South Wales tomorrow and on Thursday. Mr. Bevan, in a letter to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, who will accompany His Majesty, pays a tribute to the K.ng for his sympathy with the unemployed. Mr. Bevan, however, says he regrets that this sympathy should be used to conceal not only the negligence of his Ministers, but their "active persecution of the jwor." He adds that His Majesty's visit will occur immediately before the imposition of still further reductions in the "appallingly low allowances to the unemployed in South Wales."
