CARNIVAL FOR LOVELOCK MEETING ON DECEMBER 5 PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The Auckland Amateur Athletic C'critre met last evening, when arrangements for the J. I']. Lovelock carnival on December 5 were dealt with fully and the following officials were appointed:—Track judges, Messrs. Hoghen, Hugo, M. Reid, Porter; field judges, Rev. do Lisle, Messrs. Kalaugher, Baird, Roper, Nicholls, Tilby; timekeepers, Mr. Kohn and assistants; starter, .Mr. J. F. Russell; marksman, Mr. A. Warren; track inspectors, Messrs. Elliott, Gow, Moore, Gudsell, Dennis, Lipscoiribe; referee and manager, Mr. H. L. Towers; marshall, Mr. T. Wilson; call steward, Mr. Reid, jun.; ladies' call steward, Mrs. Harris; hoard officials, two secondary schoolboys.
Prices of admission were fixed at one shilling to the ground and an additional shilling to the stand. The matter of a dinner for athletes, on tho evening of the sports, at which Lovelock would be present, was left in the hands of the executive to arrange. The sketch of a medallion, which it was proposed to have cast in bronze and silver to commemorate the Lovelock meeting, was out forward by the president for approval. It was decided to adopt the 'design of the medallion, which woulJ be awarded to the successful competitors. The secretary, Mr. H. Jenner Wily, presented the results of the centre's first scratch meeting held last Saturday as follows: —A grade: Old Grammarians, 30 points; Lynndale, 31; University, 24; Technical, 10. B grade: Old Grammarians, 49; Lynndale, 48%; University, 14; Technical, D'A; Auckland, 5. 0 grade: Lynndale, 75 3-5; Old Grammarians, 73 9-10; Technical, 6; Auckland, 1/2. It was reported that K. Gillespie, of ■University, was eligible for a standard certificate, having thrown the javelin 151 ft 7in, tho centre's standard distance being 150 ft.
Dates for meetings were granted to various clubs as follows: —Lynndale, January 10; Ellerslie, February fi; Hunua, February 13; Papatoetoe, February 0 (Passenger Transport Cup meeting); East Tatnaki, March 6. Ihe scratch meeting on February (5 was abandoned to make an additional date available for open meetings. An application was granted for the transfer of S. G. Mclntyre from the Otahuhu Club to l'apatoetoe. An application for reinstatement from Miss M. Reekie, of Hamilton, was, in view of circumstances, held over for further discussion. Applications from D. McKenzie, of Te Puke, and M. M. Ormsby, tf Te Kuiti, were approved, while one from 11. E. Mc* Millan of Thames, was forwarded to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association for favourable consideration. On behalf of the Auckland Club, Mr. O. Hill, assistant secretary, gave notice of motion to include in rule No. 9 the following:—No club will be permitted to have more than one of its members act as delegate for any other club or any sub-centre. The motion was defeated, but the following amended motion was carried: —No city club or member shall be allowed to communicate with any country club or sub-centTe soliciting appointment as delegate on the centre, and that in the event of any such soliciting for election taking place it shall be immediately reported to the centre. The Waikato Sub-Centre wrote thanking the Auckland Centre for' granting Waikato permission to conduct the season's provincial championships at Hamilton, and also for the grant of 25 per cent of the net profits. Notification was given that the meeting had been set down for February 27. There were races at Te Rapa on February 20 and furthermore the chosen date was exactly a fortnight after the Waikato championships and a fortnight before the national meeting. This date was approved.
