SITE FOR NEWMARKET FLATS
Sir, —The house lately demolished to make room for this new venture was, I am credibly informed, built by Bishop Patteson; he never lived in it. it is thought by some that he had an idea it would be suitable for himself or other Melanesian missionaries in their old age. For some years Mr. Lusk lived there; his son Mr. Hugh husk must have spent some of bis childhood there. Now the question arises: Is there any history about the Norfolk Island pine the Borough of Newmarket is so wisely savingY It is a glorious tree of its kind. It may have been planted in the time of Mr. Lusk. It would bo interesting if it could be connected with Bishop Patteson. W. Edward Lush.
