OLD THAMES GIRLS
FINAL MEETING FOR YEAR The spirit of goodwill and the happ.v eo-operntion which exists between the members of the Old Thames Girls' Association was fully shown yesterday afternoon when a large gathering attended the final meeting for this year held in the Pitt Street Methodist Hall. In welcoming the guests, Mrs. A. Oldham, the president, spoke briefly on the work that had been done for charity during the past year and the wonderful spirit prevailing throughout the association. She extended a special welcorao to Mrs. Doidgo, sen., of Sydney, and also extended greetings to Mrs. Tregonning, Mrs. J. Paul Williams and Mrs. Capill, life-members, who are celebrating their birthdays this month. A brief talk on the Auckland Crippled Children's Society was given by Miss Carnachan, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Seddon Memorial Technical College. An enjoyable programme was presented and included songs and pianoforte solos by Miss Margaret Gerrand. vocal duets by Mrs. T. Massieks and Mrs. J. S. Black, recitations by Mrs. Keston, songs by Mrs. Harold King and the Rev. E. Orr. The accompanists were Mrs. S. Phethean, Mrs. McKinney and Mrs. Walker. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Dawson and her committee, and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in meeting old friends and exchanging remi niscon ces. Mrs. Oldham snoke of the following members of the association who had passed away since the last meeting;:— Mrs. Rule, Mrs. N. Matuschka, Miss Quinn and Mr, C. Jewell. She requested those present to stand in silence in tribute to their memory.
