THE MONTH'S ACTIVITIES The monthly meeting of the committee of the Plunket Society was held yesterday morning. The president, Mrs. J. C. Allan, presided. Those present were: —Mesdames Bruce Mackenzie, D. Ogilvie, 11. A. Cooper, W. H. Worrall, G. M. Fowlds, A. Donald, R. Coleman, I\. G. Milligan, R. P. Towle, L. C. H. Dawson, N. Duthie, E. J. Wilkinson, L. J. Shrubsall, H. R. Kirker, S. Kenrick, C. T. Webb, J. Mclvor, T. W. Nield (Otahuhu), W. Williams (Birkdale), L. Hayman (Birkenhead), A. Campbell (Northcote), R. W. Bissett (Onchunga), H. C. Hawkey (Glen Eden), H. C'orbett (Devonport), M. Fotheringham (Takapuna), M. Hooper (Point Chevalier). It was reported that the district nurses had experienced a very busy month. Two hundred and eight new baby cases had been seen for the first time, this being the largest number seen in one month since 1931; 1096 homes visits had been paid, and 7463 mothers and babies had visited the various offices. In the pre-natal section 1(36 mothers were under supervision, 3-1 of whom had been seeu for the first time during the month. At the request of the central council, children from one to five years of age were being weighed and measured to secure data for the compilation of a new average "Age-Height-Weight" chart for New Zealand children. This work was being carried out by Miss A. Lundon. Mrs. E. J. Wilkinson reported that the majority of the children who had come in to bo weighed had also joined the Truby King Junior League, 202 members having enrolled within the last two weeks. The matron of tlio Truby King Karitane Hospital, Miss Hunt, mentioned that within recent weeks four premature Maori babies had been treated at Karitane. A donation of £2 2s was received from the Morrinsville branch for the funds of the hospital. Miss M. J. Colegrove, the honorary secretary, who is at present in England, was granted extended leave of absence. Pleasure was expressed by the committee at the excellent report received from England concerning Mrs. Parkes' health. Mrs. Noel Campbell and Mrs. L. Hayman, the president and honorary secretary of the newly-formed committee at Birkenhead, were elected representatives to the central committee. The following were elected to a subcommittee to make arrangements for afternoon tea for the nurses' fair next month:— Mesdames T. C. Webb (convener), 11. R. Kirker, J. Frater. W. H. Worrall, A. Donald, L. C. H. Dawson, Bruce Mackenzie, D. Ogilvio. At the close of the business of the meeting Mrs. J. C. Allan gave an interesting report 011 some of the matters dealt with by the general conference.
